Can someone help me with my sadness?

Question

Can someone help me with my sadness?
I have Borderline Personality Disorder. No matter what happens, good things, bad things, I cannot be happy about anything. I am always sad. No motivation. I am fat. I cannot seem to lose weight. I hate myself. I hate that I am mentally ill. I am on Zoloft, Elavil, Klonopin and now Ritalin. Has anyone had success with Ritalin?

Answer

Im sorry that you are feeling so bad. Whet you say reminds me of myself a few years ago. I, also was told I had Borderline Personality Disorder and took the same medications that you take. I had a weight problem and very few friends and was so sad all the time. I have learned a lot since those hard times, so I will try to help. It is true that the medications, for the most part, are not where you will find your way out. For me the most important thing I learned was to stay away from street drugs or abusing any medication given by the doctor. I would ask your doctor if there is something besides a benzo that will take the place of klonopin. It is very addictive and hard to get off of all of them. Be patient with yourself and accept the fact that you have a lot of maturing yet to do. As I got older my life was less out of control. Ritalin didnt help me, but I do believe that ADHD is a big part of the personality disorder that we have. Give it a chance. The medicine I take for it still works well after all these years. You need to find the one thats right for you. So, take good care of yourself as you grow to be a caring and giving woman with a lot of love to give and a lot of experience to help others.
